Strange as it may sound, I'm looking into having multiple *forums*, not just boards, avaliable at one of the sites I'm working on.
To that end, I've been going through and hacking with the bridge code - not making any changes to the functions, as that works just fine, but looking for a way for multiple copies of the component to happily coexist.
I want to test what I have so far, but I have a problem - I've scoured the code, and I can't seem to find a way to change the directory that the component will install into : com_smf
If I can change that, I can see how much I've broken and what needs to be worked on some more Thanks in advance ...
Do you mean you're also installing multiple copies of SMF? What you're doing is kinda tricky. Ang about that directory, it will be created based on the name of your component.
I guess this means I need to go read the manuals for mambo component creation then And yes, I am refering to multiple installations of SMF
Concerning the component name : I've gone through and changed ever instance of "smf", "com_smf" and "mosSMF" (as in "smf --> xxx", "com_smf --> com_xxx", "mosSMF --> mosXXX) to something different so as to differentiate, but it seems to have had no effect I even renamed the files respectively after having looked at the way a number of other components are set up.
As to being tricky : if all references are changed to the new "working title" from the original, and since the information for the forum that is pulled should be determined by the forum address defined in the mambo component config - what else do I need to be worrying about? I realize that the users will be the same for each additional forum - at this point that's ok, as we could assign different rights by user groups.
once again, thanks in advance
