« on: June 23, 2005, 08:51:23 AM »

Hi, had a quick search couldnt fin dwhat i needed.

Just installed SMF and bridge for mambo. Looks all ok, except:
a) The SMF login is still displayed.
b)  When logiged in via mambo I still need to login via SMF.
c) I cant see the mambo user list in the SMF user list.

finally:
d) How do I change the forum banner/title says "My Community"
e) How do I display SMF "within" mambo or at least add a button to allow users to return to the original home site?

Answers appreciated.

a) The SMF login is still displayed.
- edit smf theme and remove the login form code.
- go to smf admin and disable quick login as well

b)  When logiged in via mambo I still need to login via SMF.
- please verify that your installation and configuration or fine.

c) I cant see the mambo user list in the SMF user list.
- you need to synchronize ifrom the component admin

finally:
d) How do I change the forum banner/title says "My Community"
- go to SMF administration

e) How do I display SMF "within" mambo or at least add a button to allow users to return to the original home site?
- edit SMF theme and just add home link

I'm sorry i cannot give you detailed answers. I assume you can figure it from there.

Hello, thanks for the help. I have also been speaking with SMF and made some progress. They suggested I :
i) unpublish the mambo login
ii) pub the SMF mod_smf_login module

However, the mod_smf_login module is not to be found and they suggest the mambohacks install has removed this module. Furthermore, they suggest I remove the mambohacks stuff and try their bridge. If this is required - whats the uninstall process? I understand the mambohack makes changed the smf and mambo? Can you clarify? I dont want to start again if I can help it.

Test login if you want to have a look:

pwd: testtest

I would appreciate your help.

First of all, you are already up and running.

About your questions, the login module is not included in the package because the default mambo login works for most people. I don't know why it's not working for you. Of course you've already found the optional login module, it's a seperate download.

Well, certain SMF files are modified as a fix to some minor issues. I wonder if those minor issues were already fixed in their bridge  Grin. The point is, there will come a time they will end up doing what I did.... or maybe not.

And there's only a small modification to a mambo file. I beleive this approach is better rather than handling it from the template, which is often replaced. Plus, this has a built in user synchronization. To sum it, this is supposed to be a low-maintenance version. Read all the enhancements.

3 patches has been already released for SMF, and there have been no problem with this bridge.  Grin

If you want to uninstall, just do so as how you uninstall a component, module, and SMF mod.

"About your questions, the login module is not included in the package"
Which login module is this? The SMF one called mod_smf_login?
"... because the default mambo login works for most people. "
Please clarify. You mean the mambo login automatically logins you into the SMF forum? Or that people are happy login in twice?

Ok, 2 final questions:

1. Can you assist me fix the mambohacks bridge? What can I do to correct the login problem?
2. Would installing just the SMF mod_smf_login module fix everything?

 Cheesy

First of all, i don't see your login va mambo. Please enable it. Because I really don't know if you really had an issue.

Or just download the optional login module.

Republished it and the login now works... very strange. But THANKS!

One final small question, if I wish to update SMF or mambo at any point in the future do i need to go through this whole process again? Can you supply a link to any mod i would need to make?

1. If mambo index.php is updated, you would need to click "patch" from the mambo-smf configuration.
2. If SMF release an update. The process is:
(a) from smf manager, uninstall first SMFMambo Mod
(b) install SMF update
(c) re-apply the SMFMambo Mod
But visit this site first before upgrading.

Thanks.

Which files are modified by the mambo-smf component? If I upgrade either mambo or smf, how do I reapply the mambo-smf mods?

1. By mambo-smf component, there's just one, the index.php in mambo root.
2. To uninstall and re-apply the link is in Package Manager.

Hello

I am once again getting the same login issue described above. When I login to mambo I am not automatically logged into SMF.

Unpublishing and republishing mambo login module TEMPORARY somehow solves the problem. However, this is concerning and I am looking for a permanent solution. Please can someone advise?
