Username Character Restrictions

I tried to install version 1.3.1.2, but when trying to synchronize the two userlists, I got an error message saying that usernames contained invalid characters...  What is the valid character list for this bridge, and is there any way to allow "other" characters?

I guess you just have to find out which username is not valid in mambo and edit it.
