smf installation
« on: April 11, 2005, 09:34:18 AM »

Hi,
I've just installed smf and mambo bridge (successfully I hope).
What I would like to know whether I was supposed to manually input the absolute path to the smf installation in the mambo smf configuration component (because that's what I had to do)?
If not, what might have gone wrong? I've installed smf forum in a subdirectory under the mambo root (on a windows apache server).

Also, are the templates for the forum and for the rest of the mambo site completely separate or not?
What is the "Insert code to mambo template" in the component configuration for?

Thank you for your help.

Stefan,

Yes, you have to put the SMF path. Please follow the Installation Checklist on the config page. It will tell you if all the steps are done. To insert code, you just have to click "apply".

And yes, SMF and Mambo template are seperate.

One last note, live feed is having some minor issues in windows platform. But you should be ok. Your forum will still work.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I'm only using windows as a testing platform so that shouldn't really be an issue.
Problem is, I had to manually change the path in the config php file, because I didn't seem to be able to make any changes to the configuration page. Did I miss something or is this a windows problem as well?

Also, it now says on my Mambo site:
"Please go to Mambo-SMF Integration configuration to patch the mambo template.",
although it says "Insert code to mambo template. - done" in the installation check list?

EDIT:
All links of the main menu lead to an empty content page, except for when I click on the forum link. This loads the forum in the content area. Is this related to the "patch the template" notification?

ANOTHER EDIT:
The problem described was caused because I assigned a different template to the site after I had already patched the template that was previously assigned. Do I have to re-patch the template every time I assign a different template to the site? If so how do I do this?
And will the site still work if I want to assign a different template to individual menu items (pages) only?
