I had a similar problem and here is how I fixed it.

I would go to the Mambo's administration panel. Click "menu" and then "mainmenu" links. I think Forum is the first item on your mainmenu list. Make "Home" as your first item on the main menu list and move "forum" to second or another level.

If "forum" is not the first item on your mainmenu list, then your problem is different then the one I had, and therefore disregard this post.

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem Jim had. However Jim's solution didn't work for me. Here is my solution:

I edited only the config_smf.php under administrator/components/com_smf/ and put this as the smf path:

$smf_path = ($mosConfig_absolute_path."/forum");

[In my case smf is located in a subdirectory named forum under the mambo' direcotry.]

So far everything seems to be working. I'll update if anything goes wrong.

Regards,
Ertu

You have to set the correct absolut SMF path in your configuration to detect whether SMF is installed.

This is the actual address of my SMF site: http://www.akcaoglu.com/test/forum/

This is the path written on the configuration page (which I am unable to change):
/home/akcaogl/public_html/test/forum

This looks correct to me. However SMF is still not recognized.

Same here!

I followed all of the instructions one by one. Got the same "SMF not installed.." error at the config page. I checked and rechecked everything, even did fresh install twice.

I installed Mambo by using Fantastico, and installed SMF manually (both latets versions.)

Please help!.

Thanks
