16  Mambo 3rd Party Addon Hacks / Template Hacks / smf templates that work in Firefox and Explorer when wrapped? on: September 13, 2005, 01:14:43 PM
I'm looking for a nice, low key, easy to read smf template (prefer grayish) that displays properly in wrapped well mode in mambo in different browsers.

I've tried Apollo and Themis and each exhibits their own problems, especially with Explorer6. For example, the right few pixels of the posts in Themis are clipped off in Explorer. And in Apollo, the top two boxes are way too wide in Explorer, as if they were thinking they were in unwrapped.

And the default smf theme's title is way too big in Explorer.

Anyway, just looking a decent, clean theme that works with as many browsers as possible in wrapped mode.

thanks,
bob

Do you mean this - the  Mambo - SMf login module - what you're looking for?

thanks! I downloaded it and will give it a try.

btw, do you know if it works okay with Community Builder?

thanks again!

I created this hacked file for smf, it actually checks if the SMF sessions or the Mambo session has died.
If the mambo session is dead then it expires the SMF session as well.
If the mambo session is active it and the SMF session is dead (either has timeout or the rememberme option of mambo was selected) then it re-creates the SMF session based on the userid and after querying the SMF user table.

thanks! I'll check it out and let you know if it fixes my problem.

3: Unpublished the mambo login, published the smf login and logged in with that.

where do you get the "smf login" module? I didn't see that distibuted with the mambohacks package or in the downloads section of this site.

and what setting for the registration module do you use in the configuration for Mambo-SMF configuration, or does it matter?

thanks!

I had a similar error until I remembered I had to configure the correct path in the Mambo-SMF Forum component configuration page and follow the installation checklist on that page.

hope this helps,

I have the same problem, i.e., the component configuration doesn't take the new path I entered.

my fix is just to just to directly modify the
mambo/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php

set $smf_path to whatever your real path is.

while I was there, I also changed
$registration_module = "cb";
so it would take default to the community builder for login and registration.

then go back to the component configuration and follow the steps in that.

[added] I notice that the "Save" icon in the configuration just doesn't do anything (no indication that anything was sent to the host), but it works for other components. I'm using Firefox.

the "verify" link on the configuration window seems to work tho.
