Yes, looks like the problem is solved - at least the problems which made me start this thread. One of my guinea-pig users had the login probs all the time from start and he got so used to need several login attempts that he sent a mail, asking what's wrong because he could login at first try. Smiley

Thanks a lot keymaster!

Are you sure about the version number? Smiley

All I can see is the 1.3.1.x in the announcement and download areas.

3  MamboHacks.com / Mambo-SMF Forum 1.3.0 Support / Login problem - not yet discussed on: May 20, 2005, 07:59:56 PM
Here's a login problem which seems to be different from the already known and/or discussed probs:

Using Mambo 4.5.2, SMF 1.0.3 and MamboSMF 1.3.1

My smf runs inside Mambo and users are known in both parts (aka synched).

Problem:

1. A user logs in in the Mambo sidebar login. He gets an error message "Please fill in username and password correctly!" although he did so and he is logged in after klicking away this message.

2. User logs in in the Mambo login, goes to the integrated smf and has to login again.

3. User logs in in the integrated smf (top menu bar in smf) and is logged in both in Mambo and smf. After a while he gets logged out of Mambo (user menu vanishes) but he is still logged in in smf.

Unforunately problem 1&2 does only occur with some users And I myself don't have these problems.

The problems - if they occur - they show with all browsers in Linux (firefox, opera, galeon, konqueror, ...) and with IE6 in Windows as well.

Looks like a cookie problem, but the problem stays even if the user erases all cookies and re-starts his browser.

URL is http://mandrivauser.de

4  MamboHacks.com / Mambo-SMF Forum 1.3.0 Support / Re: 1.3.0 Login - how to redirect to a specific page on: May 04, 2005, 01:50:03 PM
Yes. We can quickly work on a revision for those who want this kind of feature. We'll let you know when it's out.

EDIT: Ok, it's done. Here's what's gonna happen:
1. If you login from mambo, you will be redirected back to mambo.
2. If you login from SMF, you will be redirected back to SMF.
(or simply, there's no more redirection  Grin).

This is exactly what I've been looking for since installation! I've been keeping users on hold since opening the site on Sunday, telling them that someone is working on the problem. Here it is so that no matter where a user logs in, Mambo or SMF, he gets redirected to Mambo.

I hope you're releasing this patch ASAP, I'm checking this site all the time although I've activated notification. Smiley

Well, the pb is fixed and all the eye-candy folks are happy - and so am I.
What interests me: The file is only a bit more than half the size of the original functions_smf.php. What did you leave out? Was all the other stuff obsolete?

Yes, this asynchronous session management is not a real issue, it just cought me by surprise. The real issue is the redirection, err, rather "one of the real issues" with this new environment ... Sad

OK, one more to the "He who is logged in in Mambo is also logged in in smf and vice versa" theory:

Mambo default session length is set to 60, smf is set to 120 (in my login screen in smf). So, after 1 hour Mambo kicks me out but I'm still logged in in smf. I tried that several times now, setting session length to a couple of minutes as test. It works like that.
Funny thing: When Mambo kicks me out and I am still logged in in smf I can nevertheless re-login in Mambo without any problem.  Or is this ignoring of the bilateral login management a "feature"? Smiley

actually there was, when you get notified for a new post in board or new topic... the link is incorrect. Maybe that's why you're ask to login.
That was just an example with the need to login when getting a notification. And it will stay like that because we have several closed sections where the user has to login before he can read something. In the phpBB we used before that was not an issue. You clicked on the link in your mail, the browser opended to the forum and you were asked to login. After login you were directed to the posting you wanted to see.

But that's not the general issue. The genereal issue is:

1. User comes to the site
2. User sees menue button for the forum
3. User clicks on menue button and goes to the forum
4. User logs in
5. User gets logged in but also gets kicked back to the Mambo entrance page and has to click again on the menue button to get back to where he wanted to go in the first place.

That's it.

get the stable release, I fixed the notification issue.
uninstall the previous mod and install the new one.
What notification issue? There is none, at least not here. The issue is that you get redirected to the Mambo entrance page when you login in the forum. I mentioned the notification as an example how annoying this redirect is. Or does the new version does away with this redirect?

I see your point. But it is not a problem.
In general, the user logs in to mambo whereever the user logs from.
No, not here. Most user have already complained.
Also, when you get a mail with a notice that a new posting has arrived in athread you watch, what then?
You click on the link in your mail, you get to the forum and you have to login. You login, you get thrown out of the forum to Mambo. You go back to the forum and start searching for the posting!

That's the point.

YOU DA MAN!

Now I'm able to see at least all 265 users which were synched  (out of 2,000). Good job!

What do you mean somewhere? It should just be from when u log from smf or mambo. If you don't see it anymore, it's good. Because that should not even happen.
You are right, that should not happen! Exactly that was my question. When the user clicks on the forum button in the mambo menue and THEN logs in in the forum he should stay in the forum. But that is not the case here. He gets redirected to mambo entrance screen and has to click on the forum button again to get to the forum.

What I have seen was a posting about just this problem but I can't remember where that was.

I use SMF in integrated version in Mambo.

Problem: When a user goes to the forum, logs in vie forum login he gets first redirected to the mambo environmant and has to click again on the menue button to get to the forum.

I have seen this redirection somewhere but I can't remember where and how to avoid this.

Any idea?

Ok get patch2 here. I tested it with 3000 dummy data, it synced well on my demo site.
Hmm, do I really have to go all the way back to use this? Meaning: de-install the MOD in SMF, de-install the component in Mambo, empty the Mambo user table. Insert the patched files into the MOD and the component and then re-install everything?

I just overwrote the 2 files in the live installation, went to the Mambo admin, again clicked on "Click to synch" the user tables, but nothing changed.
