Title: Can't save absolute path Post by: Bryan on August 27, 2005, 03:14:29 PM Just having an awful time getting this to work. I got it to work on a test server, but I don't remember what I did to fix it.
Anyway, here's the situation. I've installed and configured SMF and Mambo, and have installed the mod using Package Manager. All was successful. Flawless, in fact. Now, when I go into the Mombo Component, and try to save the information, it always reverts to "(incorrect path)". Don't know how to get the information (which is correct) to save... Here's what it looks like all the time: PERMISSION SETTINGS: Configuration file (/home/wesley/public_html/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php) is writeable Mambo cache directory (/home/wesley/public_html/cache) is writeable Mambo index file (/home/wesley/public_html/index.php) is writeable Mambo main path (/home/wesley/public_html) is writeable make all writeable | make all not writeable SMF Absolute Path: (incorrect path) SMF Database Prefix: Integration Mode: Wrapped Unwrapped Hide emails in SMF profile on sync: No Yes Redirect SMF profile link to CB: No Yes Always redirect to forum on login: No Yes Registration module to use: Mambo CB INSTALLATION CHECKLIST: installed Install SMF Forum on the same database as Mambo. not installed Install SMFMamboMod.zip using your SMF Package Manager. done Patch mambo index.php file. [verify] done Synchronize Mambo and SMF users. Your Mambo-SMF Integration version is 1.3.1.3 Latest Mambo-SMF Integration Version is 1.3.2 Beta 1 ---- OK, so I enter the correct path and database prefix from my "settings.php" from the forum, and there's no way to save the information. It just keeps reverting to the defaults. Like I said, I had the same problem once before and clicked something that made things work. Can't remember what it was. Any help? Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Bryan on August 27, 2005, 04:07:30 PM I'm going to drop all the tables from my Mambo database, delete my forums directory, and start all over. Something tells me that we've gotten a little haywire somewhere. My test installation works fine, though I'm using an older version of SMF and an older version of the bridge.
Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Scott Hamilton on August 27, 2005, 11:16:22 PM I have the very same issue, let me know if this fixed it for you or if anyone knows of another way to get this working
Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Scott Hamilton on August 28, 2005, 12:33:48 AM OK, same problem here after a dropped all the tables for Mambo & reinstalled (deleting the configuration.php file in the root of the site)
I still cannot set the absolute path & it says that the SMF mod in not installed. I'm a vetaran SMF user, currenlty a charter member, running the latest & gratest.. The Mod is installed.. What did I do wrong? Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Bryan on August 28, 2005, 12:48:29 AM Got mine working. My problem was that I had installed smf to my Mambo database twice, and had two separate SMF installations using a similar prefix. Dropped all tables and started over, and now all is well.
Well, not quite... I still don't have that neat Mambo-smf component that doesn't force me to create my own wrapped menu item by trial and error. Maybe I'll uninstall the component and try again. Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Scott Hamilton on August 28, 2005, 10:39:28 AM OK, so you were installing SMF into the Mambo database, a new install of smf...
I am installing Mambo into the SMF database. I changed the databse name to a portal type, cleaned up all the tables before I installed Mambo. Mambo works great, SMF works great, just not talking to each other... I have a couple of mods running in SMF currenlty... do you think this may be a root? Member Map, Shoutbox, Integraded Chat, Skype mod, Rating, reply to..... www.fordpinto.com (mambo install) www.fordpinto.com/smf (smf install) http://fordpinto.com/indexsite.html (moved site so I can work...) Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Scott Hamilton on August 28, 2005, 10:53:55 AM I have uninstalled all but member map mod in smf.. still same problem..
I too went & installed a fresh copy of Mambo & SMF and used your bridge on a test site & everything worked great. It must be a problem with my existing SMF installation.... What do I need to check? Can I edit the file manually to get it work? Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Bryan on August 28, 2005, 03:36:11 PM Tell you what I did to get everything working...
By the way, I'm using 1.3.1.3 of the Mambo-SMF hack. The new beta's mod just wouldn't install in SMF package manager no matter what I tried. I fully deleted my forum directory and then dropped all the tables that started with the prefix smf_ from my Mambo MySQL database. Also uninstalled the component, and then started all over. Copied over the SMF files to my server, then did the mod via the package manager. Made sure to install the SMF database tables into my Mambo database. Then installed the component into Mambo. Typed the real absolute path, leaving everything else pretty much the same. Then hit the save button. Finally, changed to use my Community Builder login. Set things up for "wrapped." Noticed that doing that creates a nice menu item called "Forum." Doesn't really matter, because I can also create my own wrapper menu item. Anyway, after about 20 minutes worth of work (after hours of trying to get the old install to work), I'm up and going. It worked for me. Rather than toiling and tweaking, sometimes it's just better to start all over. Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Bryan on August 31, 2005, 09:52:47 PM My solution?
I can't ever manage to save the absolute path with Internet Explorer. It always reverts back. Switched to using Firefox and did the same thing... everything worked perfectly. If you're having trouble, try that. It sure worked for me. Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Scott Hamilton on September 05, 2005, 12:38:36 PM FireFox, Hmmmm...
I can't reinstall the Forum, it's a live forum & has years of data I really dont' want to loose.. Let you know Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: Nelson Pereira on September 05, 2005, 03:02:07 PM im having the same problem.... and it's realy gettin to me !
I had phpBB4 mambo working and wanted to change to SMF, im thinking of going back cause this is realy non-sense and no one seems to know what the hell is wrong. Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: thehawk on September 05, 2005, 04:16:28 PM *nods* I am on the verge of dumping Mambo and going to SMF/PHP-Nuke myself.

link me... I'll play Title: Re: Can't save absolute path Post by: rpmilius on September 08, 2005, 05:23:25 PM I have the same problem, i.e., the component configuration doesn't take the new path I entered.
my fix is just to just to directly modify the mambo/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php set $smf_path to whatever your real path is. while I was there, I also changed $registration_module = "cb"; so it would take default to the community builder for login and registration. then go back to the component configuration and follow the steps in that. -bob MamboSMFForum_1.3.1.3 SMF 1.0.5 Community Builder 1.0 RC1 Gallery2 RC1 [added] I notice that the "Save" icon in the configuration just doesn't do anything (no indication that anything was sent to the host), but it works for other components. I'm using Firefox. the "verify" link on the configuration window seems to work tho.
