Title: Achieving integration
Post by: Martin Brampton on April 27, 2005, 07:28:19 AM
I'm not clear what to expect.  The integration doesn't seem to actually integrate a great deal.  The standard components, such as the menus, appear to be oblivious to the SMF login and behave as if there is no user logged in.

How much of this can be quickly and easily dealt with?  Where can I find information?

it should integrate the members from mambo and smf instead of them being in 2 seperate databases making your members to have two logins and membernames.

How does it do that?  All I can see happening is that the SMF login has replaced the Mambo login and SMF is working as if it were a Mambo component.  That is fine if all you want is a forum and a bit of static content.

But when users are logged in, all the standard Mambo components such as CONTENT think that the user is NOT logged in - so they cannot do things like submit news or weblinks.

Have I done something wrong, or is this how it works?  Are there ways to integrate the standard components?

No, this component is supposed to log the users in to both SMF and Mambo. That's essentially what it does.

Have you tried the latest version? (Right now its 1.3 beta 1 patch 2) Check the frontpage here at Mambohacks.

I'm using version 1.2 - I don't want to use a beta version unless there is actually a fault in the latest proper release.  The situation seems to have changed since the installation was first completed.  Does the synchronisation happen in response to a timer, or something like that?  I am seeing different things now, even though I haven't changed anything.  What is going on here?
