This might sound like a really newbie question, but its the first time Ive ever used mambo and some things are still really new to me and a tad difficult to understand.
When installing a template (installers - template - site) I use the browse link to browse for the template.zip file and I upload and install. This normally works as long as the person who packaged it did so correctly (ie. remembered the index.php and other pertanent files). My problem is that whenever I install a template and set it to default, the pictures never show up on my site. I right clicked to check the properties and the paths against what is on my server and the paths seem to be correct. However, the pictures still do not show up. What am I doing wrong?
That is kinda weird. If the picute path is correct, that should be displaying on the browser. If not, it could be wrong, or it's blocked from the server. Maybe you can try changing path permissions.
The paths are correct but Im really not sure why the pictures are not showing up. Its not just one template either, its every one of them that I install that didnt come with mambo. Im not sure that I can change permissions for the files either because Im on a subdomain. I do not have access to anything that will allow me change permissions. Or can I? Its been a while since Ive done website stuff. Do the templates have to be specifically for the version of mambo Im using?
Thats the site. Ive been switching between the templates that came with mambo and the one Im trying to install, and when I look at the paths for the images they are the same (save for the template folder name).
Im at a real loss.
I'll just edit this post with new info.
I went to ftp and I changed permissions so that everyone can read and execute the files (I think thats what its supposed to be). I did this for every file in the forlder for the pictures. Finally after I left the site and came back it showed up. So, these are the correct permissions that I need to have, right?
Yay for this template working. Now all I need to do is figure out how to fix the SMF to be like it is on this site. Without the menu or login bars. If Im trying to remove things in SMF itself I just edit index.php correct?
