1.3.0 Login - how to redirect to a specific page
« on: May 03, 2005, 06:15:16 PM »

Hi,

Is it possible to make SMF / Mambo redirect to the forum once the user has logged in?

At the moment it just redirects to the Mambo index page.

Cheers

Yes. We can quickly work on a revision for those who want this kind of feature. We'll let you know when it's out.

EDIT: Ok, it's done. Here's what's gonna happen:
1. If you login from mambo, you will be redirected back to mambo.
2. If you login from SMF, you will be redirected back to SMF.
(or simply, there's no more redirection  Grin).

I don't really see the point why users want to be redirected to SMF if they are logging in from Mambo. Please give me your opinions before I release this revision.

Thanks.

I think it better that "if you log-on" on one system (Mambo or SMF) that you stay (or return) to that system once the login is done.  Same goes for log-off.   However, I would like to ask here if there is a link back from the SMF to the mambo if a body choses to go back.

additionally, I see now where, "when I log-in" on the mambo side, I briefly see the SMF and then flash back to the mambo.... Yuck! - That kind of action should take place in a Mambo wrapper or not be seen at all I think.

"Yuck?" Oh man.........

Anyhow, do you even see that happen when you login here? Because I don't.

Hi,

Ideally it would be cool if you could choose a redirection for "logon" and "logout" from a menu (wasn't it like this before?)

I use the SMF login module, so what I would like to do is to redirect to the forum on login and Mambo on logout.

Also, I need to be able to specify a Mambo template for the forum. I currently do that using the "Template Manager" in Mambo. Would this still work with the patch that you are thinking about?

Cheers

This is exactly what I've been looking for since installation! I've been keeping users on hold since opening the site on Sunday, telling them that someone is working on the problem. Here it is so that no matter where a user logs in, Mambo or SMF, he gets redirected to Mambo.

I hope you're releasing this patch ASAP, I'm checking this site all the time although I've activated notification. Smiley

Please get 1.3.1.

You need to also use the 1.3.1 version of the optional login module.

Upgrade Instruction:
Just uninstall and install the new versions. This is quicker than determining w/c ones to overwrite.

Please go to the announcement board and read the release note for all the changes.
